Ohio State
Board of Education Standards Committee
Meeting on March 11, 2002 to discuss Intelligent Design
Why the meeting location was changed
|
We received the following e-mail on March 7 from Barry Sheets about
the change in location for the March 11 panel discussion of
Intelligent Design. The entire text of the e-mail appears below.
From "Barry G. Sheets" There has been a significant change regarding the Monday morning panel--see below To all: We just received notice this afternoon of a significant change of venue for the Design-Evolution panel before the Ohio State Board of Education. This is directly from the Ohio Department of Education Please note and forward to all (the following from Dr. Bob Bowers of ODE, bold highlights by me) The meeting of the State Board of Education Standards Committee scheduled at the Ohio School for the Blind on Monday, March 11, 2001 has been relocated to Veterans Memorial Auditorium at 300 West Broad Street in > downtown Columbus. The meeting will still begin at 830 AM as previously scheduled. We anticipate a very large audience for the panel discussion. The Ohio School for the Blind could not accommodate the numbers that are expected to attend. To get to the Auditorium From Interstate 70 exit at the Broad Street exit, travel East, the auditorium will be on your left. From Interstate 71 exit at the Broad Street exit and travel West through downtown, the auditorium is on the right. Bob Bowers, Associate Superintendent Please account for Monday morning rush hour traffic and parking (some parking is available at Veterans Memorial and at the surface lot at COSI across the street. I believe the range is $3-7 per vehicle). Arrive as early as you can! No seating is guaranteed, and I do not know at this point if there will be provisions for overflow should the main auditorium and balcony not hold the crowds that may attend. This will be an opportunity to hear both sides of this extremely controversial and vitally important issue. No questions from the audience will be allowed.
